Qualcomm Life, the company’s health unit, has acquired HealthyCircles, a start-up founded by Dr James Mault (pictured), a former executive with Microsoft’s Healthvault business. The price was not disclosed.

HealthyCircles is a software-as-a-service provider that enables patient, caregivers, doctors and other health providers to share data relating to chronic care or outpatient scenarios.

The acquisition fits with Qualcomm Life’s 2net Platform and Hub, a service that adds cellular connectivity to existing medical devices. The service was launched in the US at the end of 2011 before launching in Europe at the end of last year.
