The payments unit of eBay Inc. announced the benchmark Wednesday, and said the strong demand was a sign of growing consumer interest in electronic person-to-person payments.The app enables people to pay each other with their phones, and PayPal has said it is useful for informal transactions that are often handled now with cash."One million downloads shows just how ready people are to live a cashless and card-free culture," Osama Bedier, PayPal’s vice president of platform and emerging technology said in a press release.
