Mobile clinical app provider PatientSafe Solutions has secured $13.3 million in venture funding, reports Mobihealthnews.

A regulatory filing revealed that the company — formerly known as IntelliDot— is looking to raise a further $12 million to bring its total venture funding to $25 million.

The first version of PatientSafe’s iPod touch-based mobile clinical app launched in 2010 allowed real-time data capture at the point of care such as bedside medication verification and electronic medication admission records. The latest version of the app was launched in February 2012.

According to the company, its app improves patient safety, optimises electronic medical record investment and increases the efficiency of medical staff.

PatientSafe also offers workflow and documentation apps such as barcode positive patient identification, patient-centric care interventions, clinical communications and collaboration.
