Orange and Weinmann, the medical device manufacturer, have developed a new service called Homecareonline that monitors patients coping with apnea, the common sleep disorder. The service will launch commercially in October 2013.

The new service collects data from patients who are using Weinmann’s continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) devices, which is then uploaded to a cloud platform via the Orange network.

The data collected is available through a secure application to registered users and healthcare professionals.

Use of CPAP devices is prescribed by doctors because it can reduce the effects of apnea which disrupts sleep patterns.

The new service is in compliance with e-health regulations and international data protection guidelines.
