Vodafone Portugal has won chunks of spectrum in the 800MHz, 900MHz, 1.8GHz and 2.6GHz frequency bands, reports Telecompaper. The operator secured a total of 123MHz for a total cost of EUR146 million, with two 49MHz chunks to be used for FDD-LTE and 25MHz for TD-LTE services. The spectrum in the 900MHz band will be used to improve HSPA services. Portugal Telecom's TMN and Sonaecom’s Optimus also both paid EUR113 million for nine blocks of spectrum each, reportsTelecoms.com.
