Next-generation Japanese spectrum to be allocated in June

Japan’s four main mobile operators – NTT DoCoMo, KDDI, Softbank Mobile and Emobile – have been granted permission to apply for new frequency bands designed for LTE deployment in the country, reports The Mainichi Daily News. Applications will be taken from April, and approved by June, with the first LTE phones expected to hit Japanese shelves in 2010 at the earliest.
