US vendor Motorola appears set to jump on the application store bandwagon following leaked screenshots of its SHOP4APPS portal. A report from Android and Me notes that the application store is web-based and can be browsed from any Android phone. As the store is web-based, it can also be easily browsed from a desktop computer. The publication adds that Motorola is also currently developing a native client for Android called the MotoAppstore. It is not known when Motorola will publicly launch the services, although the store seemed to be near-complete according to the screenshots.

Launch of the store would follow the recent launch of Motorola’s first Android devices, the Cliq and Droid. After early industry success as a major device player, the US vendor’s market share has fallen dramatically in recent years and it is betting on its Android strategy to help revitalise handset sales.
