Monitise has announced it has developed banking apps for Monitise and Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS).

The two new apps mark the first of their kind for an iPad from a high street bank.

NatWest and RBS customers can now transfer money, check out balances and latest transactions, and even get a quick quote using the built in loan calculator from their iPad app. This means the banks’ customers now have a quicker, smarter and more efficient way to do their banking, anywhere and at anytime.

As well as transferring money between existing accounts those with the latest app will be able to: Carry out balance and recent transactions enquiries for all their accounts; Find their nearest cash machine or branch using GPS or local search; Top up their pre-paid mobile account; Get a quick quote or calculate repayment options with the loan calculator.

Monitise Chief Executive, Alastair Lukies, said: “As a global, trusted developer of mobile banking, payments and commerce services, we are delighted to welcome the launch of these new apps. Providing convenient, simple and helpful mobile money technology and applications for our partners and clients is at the heart of our collaborative, integrated network approach.

“Banks are benefiting from a wave of innovation in mobile money with, for example, the latest technology offering real-time money transfers, smarter alerts, branch locators and interactive messaging. These are all creating new ways for banks to engage with their customers. Monitise is proud to be involved in such a dynamic mobile money space.”

The NatWest and RBS Apps are available for free from the App Store on the iPad and iPhone.
