26 AUG 2010

The Index shows the average response times, success rates and download speeds for downloading the homepage of selected US financial services mobile sites on popular smartphones using Keynote’s commercially available mobile performance monitoring solution, Mobile Application Perspective. The financial services sites that appear in the index were selected to provide an industry benchmarkfor well-known company sites. The Mobile Financial Services Performance Index is the benchmark for financial companies to compare their mobile site performance against the biggest names in the industry. To compile the free weekly index, Keynote gathers data from across the top US mobile carriers using popular smartphone models such as the Apple iPhone, Motorola Droid, and BlackBerry Curve, allowing financial services companies to benchmark their Websites’ performance against their competition when accessed from a popular smartphone. Detailed performance data from the companies within each index can also purchased at a nominal price. The Keynote Mobile Financial Services Performance Index runs in the popular U.S. financial services trade publication, American Banker, and can be viewed by readers biweekly in both the Web and print editions.   ‘Some of these financial mobile sites have better levels of performance and availability than others. The fastest home pages are those that have been heavily optimized for the mobile experience, with the fewest elements on the page and the fewest bytes,’ said Ken Harker, senior consultant at Keynote. ‘With eventhe best pages taking close to 10 seconds on average to load, staying focused on performance is critical to users adopting mobile services.’ Availability and Pricing The Keynote Mobile Financial Services Performance Index is available for free by signing up at: http://offers.keynote.com/go/keynote/performance_indices_subscription. Keynote’s mobileindex measures the responsiveness and availability of the Websites on leading smartphones, emulated by Keynote’s commercially available Mobile Application Perspective monitoring service. All measurements are taken at the highest network speed that is available for the network at the location of measurements. Index measurements are taken over the top 3 wireless networks by emulating a popular smartphone. Listed below are the carrier/device configurations used for the index:   AT&T ‘ Apple iPhone Sprint ‘ Blackberry Curve Verizon ‘ Motorola Droid Measurements are taken from 4 locations in US (New York, Dallas, Chicago and San Francisco ‘ Bay Area). The mobile index measurements include single page downloads of the home pageof the mobile Web site. Measurements are taken every hour on each operator for each mobile Web site, across all locations. Alllocations download the same list of mobile Websites for the mobile index. For every Website in the mobile index, there are 24measurements a day times 3 operators, times 4 locations. At the end of every week, all the measurements for each mobile Web site are aggregated across all locations and all operators to give a unique value for the week.
