Japanese number-two operator KDDI has reported a 4.8 percent year-on-year increase in net profit for the quarter ending September 2011, reports Dow Jones Newswires. Net profit rose from JPY65.05 billion (US$854 million) in 2010 to JPY68.19 billion (US$895 million). Operating profit rose 6.8 percent to JPY126.65 billion (US$1.66 billion), with revenue up 3 percent to JPY878.32 billion (US$11.5 billion). The company said the results are down to reduced costs and an increase in revenues from handset sales.
