Struggling German chipmaker Infineon reported a quarter-on-quarter sales increase today, lifting its shares and adding to improving sector sentiment after strong results from Intel earlier this week. According to Reuters, Infineon’s sales in the quarter to end-June were EUR845 million, up 13 percent from the quarter to end-March but down 18 percent from a year earlier. The company’s mobile unit made its first profit in years, and all other units apart from automotive were also profitable.
