Huawei claims to have set a new data rate record, averaging up to 564 kb/s in a recent downlink dual carrier test for EDGE technology. The vendor says this speed, which is two times faster than that of existing EDGE networks, enables operators to increase network data capacity and bring 3G experiences to 2G users over GSM networks, such as high-speed mobile data services including live video broadcast and video on demand.
