A USB dongle made by Chinese telecoms company Huawei Technologies became the first TD-LTE mobile device to be certified by the Global Certification Forum (GCF) last month. The E398s-81, which is being used for large-scale TD-LTE trials in China, has been certified for use in Band 38 (2570MHz – 2620MHz). The GCF announced an extension of its certification – which independently indicates that devices are compliant with the relevant standards and are interoperable with other devices and network infrastructure – to TD-LTE devices for Band 38 in July.
