France’s newest operator Free Mobile is reportedly signing up more than 100,000 subscribers per day, with French daily Les Echos saying demand is threatening to overwhelm France’s number portability system. The same publication also reports that a number of MVNOs, including Zero Forfait, have requested to use Free Mobile’s network, despite it only covering 27 percent of the French population. Meanwhile, France Telecom CEO Stephane Richard told Journal de Dimanche that his company will not enter into a price war with Free Mobile as it could compromise network quality and innovation in the long term. This is despite the company recently slashing tariffs on its low-cost Sosh brand.
