RIM has been forecast to make a first Q1 operating loss, its first since 2004, fuelling speculation that its failure to create a best-selling device will lead to losses for the rest of the year. Bloomberg reports that 31 analysts on average forecasted an operating profit of US$105 million for the fiscal year ending next March while 14 predicted a loss that could total US$36.3 million. “BB10 will buy them some time, but… I think they are in a decline”, said Wedbush Securities analyst Scott Sunderland. RIM is due to announce its first quarter results later today.
