Finland accelerates 4G auction plans

Finland’s 800MHz spectrum auction for 4G services has been brought forward with early 2013 pencilled in as the likely date for it to take place. The country’s Ministry of Transport and Communications has published a draft act on the auction for public comment, which once passed will see the spectrum licences become open for application. This timetable means 4G networks should be available to “practically everyone in mainland Finland” by 2019.
