Regulators are set to approve a request by US satellite TV operator Dish Network to use spare spectrum for wireless services – but only with some important caveats. The Financial Times reports that the FCC will allow Dish to use its ‘AWS-4’ satellite spectrum for broad terrestrial purposes, but with certain power emission limits to protect the adjacent ‘H’ block of spectrum that the FCC plans to auction next year. Dish said the restrictions could “cripple” its mobile plans.
