Nortel Networks has won a WiMAX supply contract from FairPoint Communications to provide a fixed-wireless Internet service in the US states of Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. The network contract will use wireless base stations and terminals designed and manufactured by Nortel partner, Airspan. A statement from Nortel claims that FairPoint’s WiMAX deployment is believed to be the largest planned WiMAX network running 3.65 GHz spectrum to date.
