Ericsson has acquired Canadian OSS/BSS company ConceptWave in an all-cash transaction.

The acquisition adds order management and product catalogue products – which help network operators with the management of their revenue and personalisation of end-user offerings – to Ericsson’s OSS/BSS portfolio. ConceptWave has 170 employees and operator customers in North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia.

Ericsson’s head of OSS in business unit support solutions, Elisabetta Romano, said there is a trend towards personalisation of services, putting high demand on operators to offer flexible products and customised pricing.

“In this area ConceptWave's solutions and employees' expertise adds considerable value to Ericsson's portfolio," she said.

With the US$1.15 billion acquisition of US-based mobile, broadband and enterprise software maker Telcordia in January, Ericsson said it now has “the industry's most comprehensive OSS/BSS portfolio”.

The company has also been linked to a bid for rival Nokia Siemens Networks’ BSS division.
