The Dutch ministry of economic affairs, agriculture and innovation has scrapped the requirement that the three top operators must maintain an UMTS network, reports Telecompaper. The licenses – awarded on 7 August 2000 to the predecessors of KPN, T-Mobile Netherlands and Vodafone Libertel for the use of frequency space for IMT-2000 – have been adjusted, removing the need for these operators to build their own network.
