LIVE FROM GSMA MOBILE MONEY SUMMIT 2011: Mobile application development firm DonRiver has teamed with app platform provider Kony to deliver apps to the financial services industry.

Kony’s platform, used by enterprises, claims to be compatible across more than 9,000 devices and 15 operating systems. Both companies argue that, until now, financial services providers and operators “had been forced to spend an inordinate amount of time and money to develop separate mobile applications for each mobile channel and platform, including smartphones (iPhone, Android, BlackBerry), mobile web, WAP, mobile messaging, USSD, feature phones, J2ME – the list is almost endless.”

The tieup between the two companies will see DonRiver develop a single application that will then be deployed against all of the required channels for a client using the Kony Platform. The partnership will support such mobile services as banking, payment and money transfer offerings.

“DonRiver’s clients are increasingly demanding scalable and secure mobile financial applications that work not only on all leading smartphones, but across all mobile operating systems as well as feature phones and tablets around the world. In addition, as mobile web based and HTML5 solutions become more widespread, clients want to avoid the expense of employing experts in each of these platforms as well as the cost to develop, test, operate, and maintain these platforms,” said Brent Ho-Young, managing director, DonRiver Mobile Practice. “Combining DonRiver’s Financial Application Advisory and Development services with Kony’s Platform will enable our customers to go to market faster, adapt rapidly and reduce total cost of ownership for mobile financial applications and channels.”
