NTT Docomo, Japan’s biggest mobile operator, partnered with The Walt Disney Company to introduce “an exclusive smartphone brand,” Disney on Docomo, later this year.

In a statement, the operator said that “a variety of exclusive benefits and special services and content will enable users of these smartphones, including adult women and others, to encounter unique Disney experiences.”

Customers will be able to access full length animations and live action material; puzzles and music game applications for “children and family entertainment;” original Disney apps, live wallpaper and other content; and “various customer benefits in cooperation with Tokyo Disney Report.”

Two Android devices will be available under the Disney by Docomo brand, with a handset from Fujitsu (pictured) due to be released at the end of this month, and a smartphone from Panasonic available in March. Both are available in the Japanese market only.

According to the operator, “the magical world of Disney is featured throughout the two smartphones, from their outer designs to user interfaces, including main displays and screen icons.”

Disney has previously launched  MVNO offerings, with limited success.
