A national telemedicine initiative in Denmark will use design guidelines from the Continua Health Alliance, the organisation that promotes connectivity and interoperability among personal health devices.

The country’s Action Plan for Telemedicine will deploy Continua’s standards in how it collects and stores personal data that is gathered from patients’ homes and then sent to their healthcare providers.

Denmark will establish reference architectures and national standards for health IT in the country across areas that include collection, transmission and storage of data, including both documents and images. Also covered are the management of health records, medical appointments and other related information. The architecture will be built on Continua’s design guidelines.
