US WiMAX operator Clearwire has dropped its retail strategy to focus on its role as a wholesale provider, according to The Wall Street Journal. The decision makes more likely an investment in the cash-strapped operator by shareholder Sprint Nextel which has argued Clearwire should concentrate on its network rollout over having a retail presence, says the report.
