Cellular News, citing a DigiTimes article that quotes Liu Liqing, chairman of the China Association of Communication Enterprises (CACE), reports that expenditure on China’s 3G networks could reach close to US$150 billion over the next three years. Meanwhile, local reports state China Unicom anticipates signing up 20 million to 30 million WCDMA users within a year of launch, with the three mainland operators – China Unicom, China Mobile and China Telecom – targeting a total of 150 million 3G users in three years.
