US Senator Al Franken has said he’s “still very troubled by what's going on” regarding the use of Carrier IQ software on smartphones. Following claims that the software included on a number of smartphones tracks key presses, location data and received messages of user without permission, Franken requested information from the companies using the technology about what the software records. After reading company responses to his questions Franken still believes people’s fundamental right to control their private information is not being respected. “I'm also bothered by the software's ability to capture the contents of our online searches-even when users wish to encrypt them,” he added.
