A problem affecting BlackBerry users in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, causing their email, BlackBerry.net and BlackBerry Messenger services to fail, has been fixed.

BlackBerry maker RIM said in a statement early on Tuesday morning that some subscribers in the EMEA region had “experienced delays with BlackBerry services” but that the issue was “resolved and services are operating normally”.

The company apologised for the inconvenience caused by the problems.

UK operator O2 sent BlackBerry business customers an email yesterday afternoon saying that the problem meant BlackBerry users couldn’t always connect to online services. Calls and text services were operating as normal.

Another statement was issued around an hour later saying the problem was fixed. “Our networks team has advised that the issue itself has now been resolved, however there is still a backlog of emails which are being cleared as quickly as possible,” O2 said.
