The Bank of the Philippine Islands and Globe Telecom Inc. on July 14 launched a cashierless payment service to enable the Philippines-based telecommunication operator’s subscribers who also hold accounts at the bank to pay their Globe bills using the bank’s mobile and online-banking platforms.

Globe customers also may use the service to reload their mobile-phone and broadband accounts and top up G-Cash accounts. G-Cash is a mobile-commerce service that enables Globe Telecom subscribers to use text messages instead of cash or payment cards to facilitate funds transfers, donations, loan settlements, salary disbursements, and bill, product and service payments.

Globe Telecom has set up facilities, including service counselors and self-service machines, at 22 of its stores to enroll customers in the service, the company noted in a statement.
