Bank of America (BAC) sent an ad (via text message) for text banking earlier this week, according to Jim Bruene of NetBanker.com. Bank of America’s entry to the text banking market comes nearly two months after Wells Fargo became the first U.S. bank to provide service via text message, according to the New York Times.The Bank of America Web site includes an overview of its new service. Text banking at Bank of America is free, and allows users to retrieve information about accounts by texting commands to ‘MyBofA’. The functions available through text banking include balance and recent transaction information.
