Azumio, a US firm that claims to be a leader in what it terms biofeedback technologies as well as a leading health app developer, has acquired SkyHealth, another developer of popular mobile health applications. The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Azumio, whose apps monitor users and then feedback their findings in order to influence consumer behaviour, will incorporate SkyHealth’s catalogue of “more than 15 leading mobile health and fitness apps” into its own portfolio.

SkyHealth’s most popular apps are Fitness Buddy, which is the number one ranked Health & Fitness paid app on iTunes while its Glucose Buddy is claimed to be the most downloaded diabetes app in the world.

As well as the apps, Azumio says it wants hold of SkyHealth’s developer talent. Its press release about the acquisition mentions that its target’s CEO called Tom Xu will join Azumio as a partner and head of product development.

Azumio’s leading apps include Instant Heart Rate, Stress Check, Stress Doctor and Sleep Time. The company’s technology gathers users' data by leveraging existing sensors and hardware found within existing smartphones and tablets. This data is then used in the company's apps and shared with users.
