AT&T has started to reallocate 2G spectrum in New York City to 3G and 4G networks, in order to meet increasing demand and improve call quality and data speeds. AT&T has contacted customers using the 2G services to inform them of the option to upgrade their devices. "Dedicating more capacity to our advanced wireless networks will help more of our customers in New York City have a better experience overall," said VP and general manager for AT&T in New York and New Jersey, Tom DeVito.
