US operator AT&T has joined forces with Latin American giant America Movil to target multinational companies with “IP-based technologies available to run their operations and deliver services and solutions in key countries and regions throughout the world.”

In a statement, the two operators said they had signed "a strategic memorandum of understanding" which "builds upon the decades-long relationship between AT&T and America Movil’s group of companies."

AT&T said it would use the agreement to deepen its existing reach in Latin America using America Movil networks in 15 countries throughout the region, while America Movil will benefit from being able to use AT&T’s global network infrastructure to provide global IP-based services to its customers in the US and the rest of the world.

The two firms will focus initially on delivering "enhanced VPN services and solutions to multinational companies doing business in or with operations throughout Latin America."

"As part of AT&T’s commitment to deliver consistent and seamless global services for our enterprise customers, we continue to evolve our strategy to establish alliances in key regions in the world," said AT&T’s Roman Pacewicz. “This involves the harmonisation of infrastructure, services, systems and processes generating unprecedented value for our business customers."
