ARM CEO Warren East said Intel will struggle to match the power efficiency of chips based on designs from the UK-based chip design company, in an interview with Reuters at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Chips based on ARM designs dominate the low-power chip market for smartphones and tablets. While East said ARM regards Intel as a “serious competitor” he said Intel’s latest chip announcements are merely “good enough” and don’t represent serious competition to ARM.
