Apple filed a motion requesting an additional US$707 million in damages from Samsung, as well as an injunction blocking sales of patent-infringing products and those not “colorably different”, such as the recently-launched Galaxy S3 smartphone, Reuters reports. The request was filed with the same court that in August ordered Samsung to pay US$1.05 billion for infringing several Apple smartphone design patents. The additional damages include US$400 million for design infringement, US$135 million for wilful infringement of utility patents and US$121 million in supplemental damages for product sales not covered by the jury decision. Samsung has responded by asking for a new trial.
