Jolla runs into distribution hurdles

11 DEC 2013

There were reports that smartphone start-up Jolla has suffered from delays delivering pre-ordered devices to customers, following its high-profile debut late last month.

According to the company’s Twitter feed, it has had “unplanned challenges in shipping” – hardly surprising for a debut product that is at least in part being sold direct to consumers.

Also via Twitter, Jolla exec Marc Dillon said that there had been “some trouble interfacing with the shipping companies”.

Jolla also said that sales via Finnish operator DNA will begin this week “with a limited supply”.

Website JollaUsers said that there had been “some negativity” related to the DNA announcement, because this means some “2nd wave” customers will be getting hold of devices ahead of some pre-order customers.

Jolla began delivering its eponymous device on 27 November 2013, with an event in its home market of Finland.

The company earlier this year said that it had sold out of its initial production run, although it never revealed actual figures for sales.
