Independa raises $5M; backers include LG

03 JAN 2013

Independa has closed a $5 million financing round with healthcare investment firm City Hill Ventures, a previous investor, as well as LG, a strategic partner, in addition to other, unnamed investors.

The round, which also included the conversion of the company’s convertible note totalling $2.35 million, will support expanded sales, R&D and distribution of its solutions aimed at older users.

The company’s Angela platform can be used on tablets, smartphones and commercial TVs.

Independa announced a strategic alliance with LG in January 2012 so that its solutions are embedded on the Korean vendor’s TVs used in senior living communities.
