VIDEO INTERVIEW: David Thodey, CEO of Telstra, said the surging demand for mobile services should be welcomed and that it is down to operators to take advantage.
“There’s no other industry in the world that has demand that we’ve got and really the future is in our hands,” Thodey said in a video interview with Mobile World Live.
The Telstra chief was positive about the emergence of over-the-top (OTT) players: “I like over the top in the sense that they’ve created this demand,” he said, noting the contrast with concerns about how to stimulate growth seen a decade ago.
He also noted the importance of the “pricing for value equation”, saying: “We’ve got to be clever about how we price and make sure the customer understands. If we can do that this industry will get back to growth and we’ve got a very exciting future.”
