Oracle reportedly laid off an undetermined number of US employees and began mulling moves in other global offices as part of an effort to cut costs by up to $1 billion.
Bloomberg reported Oracle had eliminated jobs in its US customer experience division. This followed an article by The Information last month stating lay-offs in Canada, India and parts of Europe could also be in the works.
Oracle information placed its full-time staff count at 143,000 at end-May.
The company is chasing Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud in the cloud sector.
Reuters reported Apple, Alphabet and Microsoft have recently discussed cuts or a slowdown for their respective hiring plans in response to increasing costs.
Meta Platforms also recently lowered recruitment goals, as it braces for a tough economy.
