Ericsson’s former UK and Republic of Ireland CEO Marielle Lindgren assumed a new role as MD for the telco industry EMEA at Google, after leaving the Swedish vendor in 2020.

Lindgren announced her new position in a LinkedIn post which indicates she took on the Google role this month. She explained she is charged with aiding digital transformation by CSPs and will work with the companies on opportunities around 5G, cloud and MEC.

Her spell at Ericsson spanned 20 years, four of which were as the UK and Ireland chief.

Lindgren’s departure from Ericsson came to light last week, as the Swedish vendor named BT executive Katherine Ainley as her replacement from 1 February 2020.

John Griffin, who held the UK and Ireland CEO post on a temporary basis since October 2020, is due to return to his permanent position as country manager for Ericsson Ireland when Ainley takes the reins.

The company did not release a statement regarding Lindgren’s departure either at the time, or when announcing Ainley’s appointment.
