ZTE has filed a petition for the winding-up of Indian operator Loop Mobile due to $25 million in unpaid bills, reports the Economic Times.

The Chinese infrastructure vendor has filed the petition with the Mumbai High Court and is also taking legal proceedings against Loop Telecom in Singapore, due to $3.2 million in uncleared payments from a contract signed under Singaporean law.

The agreements between the companies include the supply and maintenance of GSM equipment across several Indian operating circles. ZTE India vice president Zhang Rui said the deals were signed with Loop in 2009.

A source said the company will file separate lawsuits with Loop Mobile and Loop Telecom related to non-payment of $5 million in service contract fees.

A Loop Mobile spokesperson told the Economic Times that the company was unaware of any legal proceedings initiated by ZTE.

Loop Mobile is the fourth-largest operator in the Mumbai circle with three million subscribers.

Loop Telecom closed down its operations in 13 circles in April 2012 after its 2G operating licences in 21 circles were terminated by the Indian Supreme Court in February.
