Vodafone started to pitch its broadband and home phone services to its existing mobile subscribers in the UK, after receiving positive feedback on regional pilots, offering broadband speeds up to 76 Mb/s.

The two new services will be added to consumers’ mobile packages, so that they are presented with one bill covering all services.

The offer also includes the Vodafone Connect mobile app for iOS and Android, which manages the Wi-Fi router, allowing customers more options over how they control mobile devices in the home.

The app gives customers the ability to give priority Wi-Fi speed to specific devices within the home for up to two hours. Or use beamforming technology to focus the Wi-Fi signal on where it’s needed most.

Vodafone’s nationwide fibre optic network reaches exchanges which pass around 22 million premises across the UK, the company said in a statement.

The move “builds on the success of Vodafone’s fixed broadband services across 12 countries in Europe, where we are one of the largest providers with more than 11 million subscribers and our experience as the leader in unified communications to the UK business sector,” it added.

In its Q1 2015 results, the company highlighted “continued recovery in Europe”, although it is still facing challenges in its core European markets. While overall revenue decreased by 1.5 per cent, the UK saw growth of 0.2 per cent, with declines of 1.2 per cent in Germany, 2 per cent in Italy, and 5.5 per cent in Spain.

Vodafone is the UK’s number three mobile operator according to GSMA Intelligence, behind EE and O2, with around 25 per cent market share.
