UK-based retailer Tesco will launch an MVNO mobile service in the Czech Republic running on Telefonica’s network infrastructure in the country.

The service will be available by the summer and will be sold via Tesco’s 232 stores in the Czech Republic.

The Tesco Mobile service will increase the options for consumers in a market dominated by Telefonica, T-Mobile and Vodafone, while also defending Telefonica’s market share against the expected arrival of more MVNOs.

The companies already have a joint venture in the UK with 3 million customers.
