TeliaSonera made changes among its top management with Helene Barnekow becoming EVP Sweden, Malin Frenning (pictured) taking up a new role in charge of technology and transformation, and Sverker Hannervall stepping down as CTO.

This is not an abrupt departure for Hannervall, who has spent seven years in the operator’s top management team. He is serving a notice period of 12 months, during which he will continue to advise the CEO and senior management on ICT-related strategy.

Frenning will take over a newly created role as SVP in charge of group technology and an ongoing programme called Invest to save.  She was previously the EVP Sweden – the role now taken over by Barnekow. During her tenure, Frenning integrated TeliaSonera’s domestic operations to offer a package of quadplay services, combining mobile and fixed, telephony, broadband and TV.

Meanwhile Barnekow will run TeliaSonera’s Swedish operations and has been head of the operator’s Group Commercial since April 2014. She has been with the operator since April last year, and is part of the team whose brief is to transform TeliaSonera into what it describes as a New Generation Telecom. She was previously with EMC, SonyEricsson and Ericsson.

The Group Commercial role is filled by Jonas Hasselberg and Jannike Grüner who will be co-acting Group CCOs and, for Group Technology, Staffan Åkesson will be acting Group CTO.

All changes are effective from 1 July.
