LIVE FROM COMMUNICASIA 2013: SingTel has adopted a “mobile first” strategy as it works to meet the evolving needs of the enterprise market, Bill Chang, CEO of Enterprise for the operator group, said.

Speaking this morning, the executive noted that the company has embraced this ethos internally, to act as a “test bed” for new technologies. “Everything we do is mobile first, whether its applications, whether its services, we move toward that,” he said.

Discussing the rollout of enterprise applications to mobile devices, he continued: “We don’t take what is in the portals, the websites, and just dump it on mobiles, because that is one sure way to drive a lousy customer experience. We look at how this can be optimised for mobile platforms, and then look at how does this link in to your desktop and web experience.”

Chang also noted that SingTel is active in other areas of the enterprise mobility market, for example through its acquisition of mobile advertising company Amobee, which is “literally transforming the way that businesses and governments are able to reach out to citizens and customers”.
