ABI Research estimates that Huawei took a 31.1 per cent share of the mobile infrastructure Radio Access Network (RAN) market in Q2 2013, an improvement that was sufficient to give it the number one position.

The Chinese vendor’s RAN market share increased 7.2 points from Q1 2013 on a sequential basis, and up 2.5 points from the year-ago quarter.

Huawei held the number two spot in the first quarter. It has swapped position with arch rival Ericsson.

ABI Research has estimated that Huawei’s RAN revenues in the second quarter of 2013 showed a sequential growth of 37.7 per cent, as well as a 14.1 per cent year-on-year increase.

The vendor reported RAN revenues of CNY25.6 billion ($4.18 billion) in the first half of 2013.

Ericsson’s market share in Q2 2013 was 23.4 per cent, ahead of Nokia Solutions and Networks (15.9 per cent), Alcatel-Lucent (14.3 per cent) and Samsung (6.7 per cent).
