LIVE FROM COMMUNICASIA 2013: Huawei announced what it described as “the industry’s first Service Operation Center that has been established by an ICT solutions provider,” designed to support operators in the transformation from being “network-centric” to “service-centric”.

Located in Indonesia, the company said the facility will enable operators to centralise the management of their service operations, with the aim of safeguarding service quality. It said that it will enable maintenance and issue resolution to be prioritised based on end-user experiences.

Frank Yao, VP of global marketing execution for global technical services at Huawei, said: “We’ve seen more and more telecom operators embarking on the transformation from network-centric to service-centric operations, however there has been limited choice and support for these efforts in the market place, leaving operators in a difficult position.”

Huawei said that as of December 2012, it had secured more than 330 contracts in managed services, serving more than 114 operators in 63 countries.
