EE has increased the amount of data that customers using its UK LTE network can use, less than a month after launching the 4G service.

The updated 4GEE Mobile Broadband plans now include approximately 60 percent more inclusive data while new SIM-only, 30-day and 24-month plans have also been introduced.

The 2GB plan has been increased to 3GB while the 3GB plan now offers 5GB. The 5GB plan has been increased to 8GB. All existing 4GEE customers will be automatically upgraded at no extra cost.

The new one-month SIM-only plan includes 5GB of data for £15.99 with the first month free if people subscribe before 23 December.

For those wanting to access the network via a 4GEE Dongle or Mobile Wi-Fi device, they can choose from 30-day, 18-month and 24-month plans. The 30-day plans start at £12.99 for 1GB of data.

The cheapest plan at launch was £36 per month for 500MB of data.

Earlier this year the company was allowed by Ofcom to repurpose spectrum it already owned to offer 4G services, while the other UK operators must wait for a 4G licence auction due to take place early next year.

As the only operator currently offering LTE in the UK, the move to offer more data suggests EE’s original pricing strategy has seen limited uptake.
