Cosmote Romania and fixed operator Romtelecom have both adopted the Telekom Romania brand, as parent Deutsche Telekom looks to simplify its appeal to the country’s users.

The two companies will also take on Deutsche Telekom’s distinctive “T” logo.

“Adding Romania to the Magenta map is a natural step in the evolution of Deutsche Telekom’s footprint in Europe. It is in line with our strategy to offer the best customer experience driven by technology leadership,” said Claudia Nemat, board member Europe and technology at Deutsche Telekom.

Cosmote is the country’s third-largest operator with 6 million mobile connections in Q2 2014, according to GSMA Intelligence figures.

A single brand will presumably make it simpler for Telekom Romania to offer its package of mobile telephony, broadband, telephony and TV services to users.

Benefits include integrated mobile and fixed shops, a unified call centre and one new website and social media presence for both companies.
