AT&T said that it has seen strong customer additions in the current quarter, with its wireless operation bolstered by “several successful promotions in the quarter which are driving strong sales, higher gross adds and smartphone upgrade rates similar to the first quarter”.

The US number two operator said it expects postpaid wireless net additions of around 500,000 in the quarter. It said that wireless EBITDA margin will be “comparable to the first quarter”, but that “given strong consolidated customer additions and investments in new growth opportunities”, consolidated margins are expected to be down year-on-year.

The integrated operator also noted “stronger U-verse broadband and TV subscriber growth versus the year-earlier quarter”.

AT&T reiterated the full-year 2013 guidance provided in January, which is for “full-year revenue growth exceeding 2 per cent”. It will release its second-quarter results late on 23 July.
