Sony Mobile has launched two new models in its Xperia range, the latest move to boost its market share in what the company claims will be a breakthrough year for its smartphone business.
The Xperia SP (pictured) and Xperia L are the latest releases for Sony as it aims for third place in the smartphone market. Earlier this month, it was reported that the company had set itself the target of surpassing Huawei and ZTE to take third spot, behind Apple and Samsung.
The two new handsets will both be available worldwide from Q2 2013.
Key features of the Xperia SP include a 4.6 inch screen; content-sharing via NFC with other devices including TVs and portable speakers; LTE; 8MP camera; and a distinctive “transparent element” which enables users to customise illuminations as a means to personalise incoming calls and texts.
The Xperia L features a 4.3 inch screen; NFC content-sharing and 8MP camera which offers Sony’s Exmor RS for mobile sensor technology which the company claims improves photo colour and clarity.
